We got in contact with the lovely Kris and Julie for some very helpful advice and training for my 9 month old Rottweiler. They were excellent in helping me deal with my issues with her and in no time at all she was a lot more confident and sociable when meeting other dogs and people as well as learning other things. As a consequence of the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in dog ownership, with many first time dog owners seeking guidance and training.
The business was started in March 2021 and has been supporting people and their canine companions ever since.
I’m Kris Hind and my passion for dogs began at an early age. I have been involved with dogs throughout my life, being fortunate enough to share it with a Border Collie, German Shepherd, Heinz 57 and seven Boxers. Not forgetting rats, guinea pigs, a parrot and a goat.
I am a retired Royal Navy Officer and engineer and have been training dogs for friends and colleagues as a pastime for over 45 years. Following a lifelong dream to work with dogs on a more professional basis I embarked on several training courses and programmes to support my experience in the world of dog training.
JK HoundSmiths generally operate within a ten mile radius of Halesowen delivering first class dog training, advice and guidance including supporting ‘The Big Pet Store’ with their Saturday morning puppy club and running our own puppy classes on Wednesday evenings as well as 1-2-1 tailored dog training.

I cannot recommend Chris & Julie enough. They are absolutely fantastic with my golden retriever puppy Freddie. He has only had 2 lessons so far but we have learned so much already. They have cured his fear of stairs & getting in & out of the car. He is walking a lot better on his lead & we are now working on his recall. Chris & Julie are both patient & knowledgeable & I would recommend them to anybody.

First and foremost this outfit is absolutely fabulous.
We have met these guys in Malvern about fortnight ago. Me classic telephone line dog owner, Kris the dog trainer. We talked and talked and Kris goes ”Let him of the lead”. I said you are joking …. And no he wasn’t joking. Kris basically showed me how to be confident with my canary mastiff 15 months. So I had a go and Marley flew the nest and he felt good. He run with other dogs, having lots of good times… today had our lesson one and wow what lovely lovely service. Jasper, Stanley and Rocky were there to support Marley. See you next week guys. Kris and Julie have done a great job with our dogs, Peter and Eddie, and more importantly with us and our family as owners! They have been patient, kind and not only helped the dogs but helped us to learn what we need to do to teach them what they need to learn. We have all enjoyed the sessions and the dogs are coming on very well. Would happily recommend to anyone!

I met Kris at Warley woods when our puppy Poppy was 4 months old, and as very anxious new puppy owners we wanted to let her off the lead but couldn’t quite bring ourselves to undo that clip.
Kris was amazing, and after just chatting with him he reassured us that she would come back, and he would stay with us until she did if anything was to go wrong!! This gave us great confidence and we did it!! Since that day we have never looked back, she is now actually better off the lead than on. Kris also shared some great tips, which we have used to great success. I am looking forward to doing a lot more training to make our now 6 month old puppy into the perfect dog.

We’ve been seeing Kris and Julie for a few weeks now with our 7 month old Puggle puppy, Eddie. I have to say that they have been brilliant – calm, knowledgeable and confident, have got to know Eddie and his brother Peter (and in fact us) well and we have learned a lot. Their advice and support have been invaluable and I would not hesitate to recommend them.
Met kris over salt wells nature reserve today, our boy today was getting used to using a slip lead, he offered great advise! And let Oscar play with the dogs – being a first time dog owner with a large 8 month old puppy I have been reading into lots and lots of trainers to help me out with his walks but haven’t found the right one for me until today! Can’t wait to send over an email and book some classes in with you guys
We are having on going lessons with Julie and Kris and really enjoying them. Our 9 month old Retriever is a handful but we are far more confident with him since we started and his behaviour is much better. We look forward to our next lesson and they are there for advice on the meantime.
Very pleased with Julie and Kris. Our dogs are responding really well to the training sessions.
